Casa Liza is a joint project with his wife Annelies, Marketing Manager.
We are honoured to be working with you François for the creation of pieces for the Casa Liza collection with Mauricio Sbarbaro.
Tell us a bit about the inspiration behind this collection?
I knew the artist Mauricio Sbarbaro, whom I met in the charming village of Cadaqués, Spain.
My initial idea was to design decorative objects based on the work of an artist, who has become a friend and whose overall work I appreciate.
Afterwards, I designed several things: bed linen, cushions, carpets, shower curtains, poufs…, so everything related to the decoration of a vacation home.
I hesitated for a long time before presenting everything to the artist because I didn’t know if he would accept or not. Then one day I said to myself: “Well, I have nothing to lose, let’s go! Let’s present him the project”.
He loved the cushions and the rug, and he would have even dreamed of hanging the rugs on the wall, like an artist’s work on the wall.
Indeed each of these pieces are beautiful pieces of living art. And what made you choose to work with KISANY for this collection?
The KISANY project is so beautiful, the reintegration of this group of women through work appeals to me. When I see their picture, I see their smile.
When KISANY was launched, I designed the logo and the general look of the brand. My sister (ed. note: Isabelle, co-founder of KISANY) and I help each other out. The cause is obviously wonderful. It was a no-brainer to work as a family for such a great cause.
And it was a great opportunity to work with you François on this project on a completely different topic. So finally, where can we find these beautiful cushions? The first place to find them is the Casa Liza website: CASA LIZA. You can also find them in Cadaqués, the artist’s village, where there is a decoration store that has asked to sell our cushions exclusively.
The collaboration with KISANY is going well, but the craft process and the logistics with the DR Congo are quite complex!
Despite this, we have nothing but compliments on this project. Our customers are so enthusiastic and happy to acquire our products.
Thank you François for the time and for choosing to give work through this stunning collection.
